The Beagle Channel Odyssey of Discovery: The Gable Expedition Get ready to experience a one-of-a-kind canoeing and trekking adventure at the Ends of the Earth! We’ll set off to explore the mighty Beagle Channel: the same waters navigated by the first founders of Ushuaia and by adventurous explorers the likes of naturalist Charles Darwin. As we follow this route in our canoes, we’ll feel both a sense of freedom and isolation from civilization, taking us back to a time when the Yamana tribe inhabited this distant corner of the planet. We’ll also make a brief stop at Martillo Island where, from our boat, we’ll have the opportunity to observe a colony of Magellanic penguins. Our final destination will take us off-the-beaten-path and onto the remote, uninhabited Gable Island; the largest island in the Beagle Channel. Now, picture yourself strapping on your ice spikes, as you begin trekking along this ice giant on a full-day discovery journey along one of the few glaciers in the world, which is actually growing and advancing.
